DALLAS, Texas (Wednesday, Aug. 7) – The Dallas Cup, the most prestigious international youth soccer tournament in the United States, has announced that current U18 Premier League Champion, Derby County FC, has accepted the invitation to participate in the 2020 Gordon Jago Super Group. Dallas Cup XLI will be held next spring from April 5 through April 12, 2020.
This past May, Derby County defeated Arsenal FC, 5-2, to win the U18 Premier League, the highest level of youth soccer played in England. In consideration to represent the club at Dallas Cup XLI are many of the players from that championship team, including the English duo of Archie Brown and Morgan Whittaker, who combined for the five goals scored in the final against Arsenal.
One of the Dallas Cup’s most esteemed alumni, Wayne Rooney, recently announced he will join Derby County as a player-coach starting in January. England’s all-time leading scorer played in the 1999 Dallas Cup for Everton.

The 2020 Dallas Cup will mark the first tournament appearance for The Rams. They hope to become just the sixth English side to claim the Super Group title since the elite bracket’s inception in 1990. Everton was the last English side to claim the Gordon Jago Super Group, hoisting the “Boot and Ball” championship trophy in 2016.
Derby County is the first team to be announced for the 2020 Gordon Jago Super Group. The 2019 Super Group featured several elite teams, including Premier League sides Arsenal and Liverpool, in a bracket that concluded with Liga MX’s Tigres defeating Spain’s Villarreal CF in the final.
