As the world’s top soccer teams prepare for the upcoming 2008/2009 season former Dallas Cup players are in action around the world.
 
Wayne Rooney is in fine form for Manchester United on their pre-season tour to South Africa scoring once and having two assists in the “Red Devils: 4-0 victory over Kaizer Chiefs.
 
Giovanni dos Santos, only 18 years of age, was transferred from FC Barcelona to English Premier League Tottenham Hotspurs for $15 million and following excellent displays in pre-season games is already becoming a fan favourite of the Spurs supporters.
 
Peter Crouch and Jermaine Defoe the new attacking duo for Portsmouth FC were both scorers in their games against Ajax and Kano Pillars
 
Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy) and Kenny Cooper Jr. (FC Dallas are the leading goal scorers in Major League Soccer with 13 Goals each.
 
David Beckham is not enjoying the LA Galaxy’s winless streak of seven games but he is still drawing sell out attendances in Major League Soccer stadiums around the USA and Canada.
 
Raul, captain of Real Madrid in last year’s La Liga Championship is preparing for his 15th season with the Spanish club.
 
Brian McBride, the former US International, has signed for the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer following his return to the USA from Fulham FC of the English Premier League. McBride is also in the US team for the Olympics in China.

Duilo Davino, FC Dallas’s new signing from Club America of Mexico will miss upcoming Major League Soccer games due to injury (broken toe). Davino hopes to be back soon in order to help the club in its quest for the MLS Cup.
 
Frazier Campbell, Manchester United’s young new star forward, scored the winning goal in United’s pre-season victory over RCD Espanyol.
 
Ben Sahar, Chelsea’s Israeli international star has been loaned to EPL team Portsmouth FC and will play in the Community Shield games against Manchester United at Wembley stadium on 10 August.

Giuseppe Rossi, former Manchester United forward and now with Villarreal CF of Spain scored in Italy’s 3-0 win over Honduras in the opening Olympic game in China.
