A very nice Holiday Gift says Gordon Jago, Executive Director of the Dallas Cup. To have one of the Bundesligas oldest clubs taking part in our 25th Anniversary edition is most exciting. It is really special that the club will not only take part in the Super Group, which is getting stronger by the day, but they will also participate in our Group D-Under 14. This is the first time in a number of years that a top European club has sent two teams to the Dallas Cup. continues Jago.
With Eintracht Frankfurt now committed to the 12 team Super Group, the list of teams grows even stronger. Previous commitments from Leeds United (England), Atletico Paranaense (Brazil), Tigres (Mexico) and Deportivo Saprissa (Costa Rica) are attracting other top teams from around the world. We hope to have the group finalized shortly after the New Year says Tournament Manager Randy Jones. Discussions have been on-going with other top European, Central American and South American clubs but have slowed down a little over the past few weeks due to the holiday period. With five of the nine international teams already committed, we are well ahead of our plan.
The Under 14 side will compete against not only the top teams from the USA, but teams from Australia, Afghanistan, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico and Venezuela that have already submitted applications. With the international team application deadline set for the middle of January, more countries are expected to seek an invitation to participate.
