Dallas Cup alumni getting their first senior team call-ups

You'll never forget when the first call-up to your national team. For some of our former Dallas Cup players, it's been a week they will not forget. As some teams begins the prep work for the 2014 World Cup while other start looking at the youngsters for the next cycle, the international breeak will allow some of the first-timers an opportunity to wear their country's crest for the first time.


2008 alum Luke Shaw continues his ferocious rise through the football landscape. Still only 18 years old and widely consider one of the most sought after players in England, Luke has establish himself as a cornerstone of Southampton FC's backline. This teenager has a real shot at Roy Hodgson's England squad for Brazil.


Dallas Cup alum Massimo Luongo played in the 2010 Super Group with Tottenham Hotspur. A very young and talented team in 2010,Massimo has carved out a solid professional career in England. After a successful loan spell at Swindon Town, Massimo signed a permanent 3-year contract with Swindon in 2013. His steady production has caught the attention of Australian National Team coach Ange Postecoglou for his first senior team call-up.


2013 alum Muamer Tanković was an integral part of the Gordon Jago Super Group Champion Fulham team. His stellar play has earned himself first team minutes. Maumer has been part of the Swedish youth national team system but was being heavily recruited by the Bosnian National Team country of his parents. The 19-year old has received his first senior team call-up for Swedish National Team for the friendly match against Turkey, March 5th.


William Packwood was part of the last U.S. Under-20 National Team that played in the Dallas Cup. In 2010, Will has one of  the youngest member of the under-20 team. He has progressed through English club's Birmingham City youth system and has received first team minutes this past season. Will's play has earned a look by U.S. National team coach Jurgen Klinsmann.
