USMNT Players make mark in Europe

Two Dallas Cup Alums put their names on the score sheet this weekend as Timmy Chandler (DC ’07) and Oguchi Onyewu (DC ’99), scored for their respective European Clubs. Chandler's near post, long-range blast was the go ahead goal for FC Nuremberg, in a 4-0 victory over fellow Bundesliga Club Hoffenheim while Onyewu scored the game winner for Sheffield Wednesday in FA Cup action.

Making a mark in his English FA Cup debut, Onyewu scored the decisive goal for Sheffield Wednesday, lifting them past Rochdale 2-1.  The win propels Sheffield Wednesday into the round of 16. This was Onyewu’s first goal with Sheffield Wednesday, upon signing earlier this month. The goal ties him with fellow Dallas Cup Alums, Gregg Berhalter (DC ‘93) and Jozy Altidore (DC ‘04), as the only American players to have scored with five different European teams. With Onyewu pushing to earn his spot on the USMNT World Cup roster, this milestone can only help his chances. Check out Chandler’s and Onyewu’s goals below.
