Eight Dallas Cup Almuni on 2016 MLS "24 Under 24" List

 

Each year, Major League Soccer releases their list of the league’s top 24 players under the age of 24. Players are ranked based on their technical ability, physicality, soccer IQ, personality, and their overall potential. The list was first released in 2010 and since then, Dallas Cup alumni have been receiving a lot of recognition, with the likes of Omar Gonzalez and Matt Miazga being on past lists. 2016 is no exception as eight players from the list played in a Dallas Cup, including four players making the top ten of the list.

 

 

Jack Harrison - 2013 Dallas Cup, Manhattan PSG

Former #1 overall draft pick who currently plays midfield for New York City FC.

 

 

Kellyn Acosta – 2014 Dallas Cup, U-20 US Men’s National Team

Acosta is a Dallas native who currently plays midfield for FC Dallas. He has made three appearances for the US Men's National Team and was a part of the 2016 MLS All-Star team.

 

 

Wil Trapp – 2008 Dallas Cup, Columbus Crew Soccer Academy

Trapp signed a homegrown contract with the Columbus Crew in 2012 and plays midfield for the club. He has earned two senior national team caps for the United States and was also a part of the 2016 MLS All-Star team.

 

 

Jesse Gonzalez – 2014 Dallas Cup, FC Dallas

Gonzalez signed a homegrown contract with FC Dallas in 2013 and now plays goalkeeper for the club.

 

 

Ronald Matarrita – 2011 Dallas Cup, Liga Deportiva Alajuelense

Matarrita is a Costa Rican defender who plays for New York City FC. Matarrita has made 14 appearances for the Costa Rican national team and made 67 appearances for LD Alajuelense of the Costa Rican premier division before being signed to New York City FC.

 

 

Jordan Allen – 2014 Dallas Cup, U-20 US Men’s National Team

Allen is a New York native who now plays for Real Salt Lake.

 

 

Juan Agudelo – 2008 Dallas Cup, New York Red Bulls Academy

Juan Agudelo plays as striker for the New England Revolution. The skilled forward has racked up 30 goals since his MLS debut in 2010 and has made 20 appearances for the US Men's National Team.

 

 

Tommy Redding – 2016 Dallas Cup, U-20 US Men’s National Team  &  2011 Dallas Cup, Chicago Magic Academy
