“Meet and Greet”
A New Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXIX Opening Ceremonies

Over the 29 years of the Dallas Cup one of the most enjoyable and exciting parts of the tournament for all of the participants has been the opportunity to “meet and greet” friends new and old from around the world. This year we hope to make it even more of an opportunity during the Opening Ceremonies on the first Sunday of the tournament week by having all participating players, coaches and mangers take to the field at the Pizza Hut Park Stadium for “Meet and Greet” and here is how we are going to do it.

First, there will be a “Parade of International Flags with the host Club the Texas Longhorns SC. The Flags will go around the perimeter of the stadium floor.

Second, all participating teams will then descend from the stadium stands onto the field as they are called by Dallas Cup age group. (i.e. “Under 13 and Under 14 please proceed to the stadium field”) when notified by the stadium announcer. All age groups, continuing with the Under 15, Under 16, Under 17 and Under 19 will be invited to take the field in age group order ending with the Super Group. Participants are encouraged to bring cameras and video recorders to the field to record special memories that you will be able to enjoy for years to come.

Third, all participating teams are asked to be in the stands by no later than 4:45 pm and be ready to begin the Opening Ceremonies at 5:00pm. Don’t forget the first of two Super Group games begins at 3:00pm with Sao Paulo of Brazil playing National Champion Andromeda SC of Dallas.

Fourth, once all teams are on the field we will allow time for everyone to enjoy the “Meet and Greet” for approximately 15-20 minutes. The stadium announcer will then asked that those people on the stadium floor please direct their attention to the press box side of the stands for some very brief opening remarks and a big Texas Welcome that will be extend to everyone. We anticipate that the “Meet and Greet” event will conclude by no later than 6:15pm.

Fifth, once the final remarks and welcome are made all participants on the stadium floor will be asked to return to the stands to enjoy the second Super Group match of the day with Liverpool FC of England playing FK Slavija of Bosnia/Herzegovina at 7:00pm.
