Super Group Triple-Header at the Cotton Bowl Highlights Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXXIX Opening Day

FC Dallas and USMNT star Kellyn Acosta to take part in ceremonial “First Kick” for Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXXIX


DALLAS, Texas (Saturday, March 24) – The 39th edition of the Dr Pepper Dallas Cup, the oldest and most prestigious international youth soccer tournament in the United States, is set to kick off on Sunday, March 25. Over 4500 players and 250 referees, hailing from 40 countries, will take part in the tournament’s Opening Ceremonies and “Parade of Nations” on the Cotton Bowl Stadium field. FC Dallas midfielder and 2012 Dallas Cup alumnus Kellyn Acosta will take part in the ceremonial “first kick” during the ceremony.

The marquee game of the opening day’s triple header is a clash between Premier League giant Manchester United and Liga MX champion Tigres at 6:30pm. The day will start at 12:30pm with the defending Super Group champions FC Dallas squaring off against Arsenal FC of the Premier League. At 3:00pm, 2017’s Super Group runner-up and current Copa MX champion CF Monterrey hit the pitch against historic Brazilian side EC Vitoria. The Opening Ceremonies and “Parade of Nations” will begin at 5pm.

The Super Group opening day triple-header will be streamed live from the Cotton Bowl on Sunday. FC Dallas' radio voice, Tyler Kern, and TV analyst, Steve Davis, will provide play-by-play and commentary during the 6:30pm match.

Additional tournament broadcasts and live streams will be announced in the coming days. Throughout tournament week, a total of 224 teams will compete in nine age brackets, all vying for the iconic “Boot and Ball” championship trophy.
